Get Involved: Volunteer
Volunteer with the GO Fund’s Ghana-based partner, Alliance for Youth Development (AYD). AYD is headquartered 20 minutes inland from Cape Coast, in the Asebu Abura Dukwa District. While working to educate and enrich the lives of those in critical need, volunteers will have a chance to experience the vivid cultural heritage and congenial hospitality that Ghana offers.
WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING POSTIONS:
Orphanage Assistant, Childrens Home for Hope
Duties include:
- Providing educational lessons to the children and helping them with their homework
- Organizing educational and recreational activities for the children (games, art, music, etc.)
- Assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the children’s home
- Helping with and monitoring the children’s personal hygiene.
- Assisting with the cooking, cleaning and building maintenance duties
Public Health Officer, HIV/AIDS
Duties include:
- Training of school based peer educators
- Organize sexual health programs in schools
- Establishing community youth clubs
- Designing programs for community youth health clubs
- Educating and promoting the practice of safe sex
- Developing training manual for future volunteers
- Designing and compiling information, education and communication materials for young people
- Providing counseling for people with HIV/AIDS
Program Officer, Sew for Sisterhood project
Duties include:
- Teaching English as a second language
- Coordinating financial management training programs for students who complete the training course
- Helping the students to package, brand and market their products
FREE TIME
In your free time you will learn first-hand about your local community's elaborate festivals, crafts, contemporary arts, music, dance, unique architectural styles, etc. Come volunteer in Ghana and see for yourself the wonders of this proud West African nation.
Living in a rural village or small town you can expect to:
- Live with a host family
- Become involved in daily family life
- Enjoy local food (provided by your host family)
- Interact with the local community
PROGRAMME FEES
1-3 weeks = $200/wk
4-7 weeks = $150/wk
8-12 weeks = $125/wk
Onward = $95/wk
Our fees include:
- Airport pick up
- First night hotel accommodation for evening arrivals
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Support for project
- All other costs must be paid for separately (airfare, visa, vaccinations, passport fees, etc.)
